Somewhere inside this video is a gem of a drive-in B-movie trying to be born, but the production can't quite match director Detroit's ambitions.
Blame it on the locations (San Francisco's Chinatown doubles for Saigon, Hong Kong and Bangkok!), Blame it on the so-so supporting cast, blame it on the script and sound and lackluster camera angles. But don't blame it on the much-tattooed, smooth-talking Jack Krupp, who plays the spymaster in charge of testing secret agent Steven David's sexual versatility (you never know what a guy might have to do to defend liberty).
Krupp delivers an impressive performance in the deadpan Jack Webb tradition, with a bit of manic Jack Nicholson under the surface-the scene where Krupp gives David a "garlic kiss" is some kind of classic. Watch out for this guy! (Viewers will need no encouragement to watch exotic Japanese dancer Opium, or Cougar Cash in a tiny role.
